Wounded and ill Confederate soldiers in Tennessee were routinely moved South in Georgia, specifically Atlanta, for treatment. Nearly all of those wounded at Chickamauga were moved south by train to hospitals away from the battle areas. Read Confederate Hospitals on the Move.
