Alan....I recieved this info last night which concurrs with what you provided.

The 38th was over run by the 2nd Ohio at Missionary Ridge. Clayton's Brgade lost 21 men killed, 160 wounded, 706 missing. The 38th then withdrew to Ringgold Ga. near Dalton where it went into winter quarters. Since your ancestor died Dec. 25 1863 I would say he was either wounded at Chickamauga and died of his wounds in Dec. or died of wounds recieved at Missionary Ridge. So it was most likely a Ga. hospital.

So my next question is of course, where is the most likely place Pvt. D.M. Wyatt would have been buried having died in the Atlanta Fairgrounds Hospital No.2 in Dec of '63?
