Its looking to me like all avenues of negotiation are closed. I revert to my original statement some weeks ago...its time for the State of Alabama (and Mississippi) to sue for the return of the flags.

Regarding the Mississippi flags, one of them is the flag of the 43rd (Iowa claims that it is the flag of the 40th). The 43rd had a whole lot of Alabama men in it. In fact, one of its Captains was from Alabama and he rose to the rank of General. The other flag is an "unknown" at this time. If the flag was in its proper place, in Mississippi, I'll bet that mystery would quickly be solved.
