Hayes LoweCapt. H.G. PerryWed Mar 7 11:07:39 2001 Checking the Vicksburg Confederate Paroles data base, I find the following:PERRY, HORATIO G. CAPTAIN 43RD MISSISSIPPI INFANTRY, COMPANY A. PAROLED ON THE FIELD.Assuming that this is the correct Horatio G. Perry, then he did not die in the battle. It is possible that he died before being sent out of Vicksburg to parole camp. (I think that this occurred on July 5th, 1863. The surrender was on July 4th, 1863.) However, I don't think that is likely. The wounded were paroled in the local hospitals, and the record so notes. Unless he was sick or wounded, but not in the hospital, it is doubtful that he died at Vicksburg. He could have died, though, on the march to the parole camp. Many, if not all, regiments surrendered at Vicksburg were sent to Demopolis, Ala. to be held in parole camp.Horatio Gates Perry Mary, Wed Mar 7 14:37 Capt. Perry Hayes Lowe, Thu Mar 8 08:56 Capt.
