Write to the Mississippi DAH for his service record, and you will probably find more answers. Their website address is http://www.mdah.state.ms.us/. The guys on the Mississippi board say that this is faster and less expensive than ordering the same records from the National Archives.

Also, ask about him on the Mississippi discussion board. Jim Huffman, the board coordinator, is particularly knowledgeable about the 43rd and could probably answer all your questions. He also maintains a website dedicated to the 43rd Miss. The website is at http://43rdmississippi.homestead.com/43rdORs.html.

From his site: 43rd Mississippi Infantry, Company A was the "Frank Rodgers Rifles" formed at Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi on March 11, 1862. He shows two Captains of this company (one being H.G. Perry), which means one was replaced.
