G.PurvisGBMon Jan 29 22:23:56 2001 :Tim,I was refering to a organized retreat with the intention of drawing the Union forces into the open where the skill of the southern fighting man would have come into play. I would hve my center fall back hoping to draw the attack into that area. If Lee had taken another option maybe he would have snatched victory from the Union. Had he retreated to terrain more suitable for his offence, he would have still been in the face of Mead, and also his army could have gotten a little R&R. When I say this is just a guess,I mean that, as I have no material to work with of any sort. And I rely on the basic knowledge of the battle. The only skill I have to discuss the battle is what I learned firsthand. Sorry I cannot give you a run for your money.George: GB options Tim, Tue Jan 30 10:19 GB Purvis, Tue Jan 30 16:24 GB Tim, Tue Jan 30 18:01
