In my research of the 5th Alabama Battalion, Archer's Brigade, ANV, it has come to my attention that members of, if not the entire Company "B" of this unit were attached to the Jeff Davis Legion from abt. May to November of 1864.

Does anyone know if this transfer of Company "B" to the Jeff Davis Legion took place and why an infantry company, by this time acting as part of the Provost Guard for A.P. Hill's III Corps made this move?
