A fine Regimental History of the Jeff Davis Legion was published in 1999, a copy of which I have in my possession. Working from this source, I can find no evidence that any part of the 5th Alabama Infantry Battalion served with the Legion. There were quite a few companies from Alabama however; "Sumter Mounted Guards" Co. D, Canebrake Legion, Co.E, both served with the Legion from 1862 forward. In late 1864, the 4th Alabama Cavalry Battalion comprised f three companies was added to the Legion becoming companies H,I, and K.
