On the findagrave site for Woodlawn National Cemetery at Elmira, NY, there are two sites for people named Jesse Underwood. One Jesse Underwood at Elmira is findagrave #10642202 done by Scott Hutchison. The site says Jesse was in the 42nd Virginia, which is, coincidentally, a regiment my great grandfather and several relatives were in. This site says Jesse died 7 January 1865.

The other site at Elmira was done by Hope and is findagrave #66866023. It says he was 60th Virginia Co. H., and that he died 4 February 1865.

The Jesse Underwood I am looking for lived in Mercer County, West Virginia, and married Hester Mishel Underwood in Mercer County, West Virginia in 1857. (WVA Vital Records). I have entered his widow into Findagrave with her second husband, but I would like to also connect her with her first husband. She is findagrave #44266073.

Can anyone tell me which Jesse Underwood was the husband of Hester Mishel Underwood? Her maiden name was also a Underwood.
