After examining all the data, I am convinced that Hester Mishel Underwood was married to the Jesse Underwood who enlisted in Princeton 4 July 1861 in the 60th infantry and died 4 February 1865 at Elmira.

The only discrepancy is that the wife's name was transcribed as Martha instead of Mishel. The family had a son by the same name as the one listed in that census. He died at age 12. Their daughters were born in 1860 and 1863.
