The 48th Virginia was part of Jones' Brigade, Gordon's Division, in July 1864. I believe that Jones' Brigade was one of the two brigades of Gordon's Division that were sent to secure the Federals stores in Harper's Ferry during the first week of July 1864.

There's a google book by John D. Chapla called "48th Virginia Infantry". It could provide further details.
