Samuel G. Bowman, Co. I, Capt. R.J. Reynolds' Company, filed a pension application age 48, in Patrick County on 8 May 1893. He claimed to have been wounded (shot through left leg below the knee) while on guard duty at Danville in January 1864. See Va. Pensions on line at Library of Va. This appears to be the S.G. Bowman of Co. I, 5th Bn Va. Reserves -- a company commanded by Abram D. Reynolds that was formed in Patrick County 17 June 1864. The date of the wound was probably Janaury 1865 when the battalion was on duty at Danville. See Reserves in the Va. Regimental Histories Series by Patti and Jeff Weaver.
