Just checked the on-line Virginia Pension Applications at the Library of Virginia. His widow, Rachel S. Gibson, age 58, filed a pension application on 22 May 1908 from Scott County. She said her husband Christopher Alldson Gibson served in H/50 Virginia. He was born 5 Feb. 1845. They were married on 2 Aug. 1866 in Whitesburg, Ky. He died 24 Aug 1894 of a gunshot on that day in the calf of leg and in foot. Physician's statment said he died of a pistol shot in a difference over a settlement. She gave no more information about her husband's wartime service. I did not find a pension application for him in Va.
