I don't have information that contradicts what you have. It's that I have just not found the sources that indicate that he ever went to Elmira or how long he stayed there. All the records I have found list him as private, not sergeant. And I have no indication that he was wounded. Anything that you can do in the future to condfirm the sources of information would be helpful.
