Re: McCausland's Brigade at Appomattox

Hi Bryce, the only reference I have is my 16th VA Cavalry regimental. It does give a rundown of the Army of Western Virginia. In Spring of 1863, Col. McCausland was in command of the 36th Regiment, 60th Regiment, and Bryan's Battery. When Gen. Albert Jenkins was killed, McCausland was made General and given Jenkins command, which was the 8th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 19th Regiments and the 34th, 36th & 37th Battalions. Here is a link to a good but short biography of McCausland.

There is also a biography of him by David L. Phillips, "Tiger John, The Rebel Who Burned Chambersburg". The best place to get a copy is www.abebooks.com.
