Son of Nicholas Sterling and Martha Harrison Edmunds.
His maternal Grandfather was Captain James Junkin Harrison famous for
his racing thoroughbreds and member of VA Senate in 1845.

Graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in 1858.

Moved to Mississippi in 1871 and then to Texas where he taught school.

Married Sarah Wilkinson and lived rest of his life in Bell County, TX.
They had seven Children.

His body was reintered from Wilkinson Cemetery, to Cedar Knob Cemetery,
Belton, TX
