Bingo!! That's him! He was the step-son of Joseph L. Shockler, Pvt 35th Liken's Cavalry, Company I, Cherokee County TX. I have been looking for George for some time. He was in family writings as George Thomas and the 1850 Alabama census showed his name as George A. Thomason. He was one of 12 children born to Eliza Henderson Shockler. She must have been some kind of woman! The family moved to Texas in the early 1850's.

Thanks for helping me out. Now I can focus on who I know to be the correct George Thomas.
