That fits together. I am aware of the move eastward by McCord in spring of 1864, but I wasn't clear from the first post when "by then" refered to. There is also a good bit to be learned about the late war/post war period on the Texas frontier. I'm looking for a solid reference concerning military activity in Texas in the 1865/66 time frame, but haven't found it yet.
