The posts closed about May 1864, when Col. McCord took his six companies east to Columbus, Harrisburg and Hempstead and Lt. Col. Barry took his four to Fort Belknap. Fossett's two companies at Camps Colrado and San Saba took the extreme left flank of the northwestern line of defense by February 1865, alongside Barry's four companies, Bourland's Border Regiment, and the various companies of the Frontier Organization. It's really Fossett's area of operations in February '65 that I'm trying to determine.
