In Response To: 4th Tenn Infantry ()

Terry --

As a prisoner this soldier gave his name as Wiley Green Bynum, enlisted at Germantown TN, May 15, 1861. We was wounded at Perryville KY on October 8, 1862, left in a field hospital and captured the following day. He was among a group of prisoners carried by steamship to Vicksburg and exchanged, Dec 22, 1862. After returning to the army, Bynum was assigned as a hospital guard at Rome GA. Bynum returned to his command by the summer of 1863, and seems to have served with the consolidated 4/5th Tennessee for the remainder of the war. He received a parole at Greensboro NC on May 1, 1865.
