Truth About Nathan Bedford Forrest

Being from the eastern end of Tennessee, I've not read a great deal about the " Wizard of the Saddle. " at least as much as I intend to in the near future. I have a " general " knowledge of Forrest and his contributions to the Confederate cause. I'm also aware of much controversy surrounding the General. On another site, " American Civil War Forums " I saw a clip from Glenn Beck's online program. He is holding a sword he claimed was owned and used by Forrest. He states the sword was used ( by the General ) to " skin Black Union soldiers " and that their hides were then nailed to sides of barns as a warning to others. I know over the years a lot has been written and said about the General even in the post -war era and his involvement with the KKK both true and untrue. Has anyone ever read about an incident such as this ? Even if some other things were true ( which I doubt ) this seems to me a bit far-fetched.
