Hi Alan,

Never thought of looking for a diary. Hmm, something else to search for. About 15 years ago, I wrote to the National Archives. At that time, I only knew of Geo's service in a single regiment. So, I asked if the "daily reports" for the 12th TN Cav., US, were available. Yep, they are available. However, it was over 6,000 pages at a copying cost of $1,200.00. My husband and I were newlyweds and couldn't afford it. So, I have been quietly pigeon-holing money since then. Just as I am ready to request the copies, I find that Geo has been in 2 more regiments. I'm almost afraid to ask how much that will cost.

As to the hospital records, they were not included in the original military file (for the one regiment). My understanding is they may be in a separate "medical" file. I know he was in the Nashville Hospital No.___. If I can figure out which Nashville Hospital, maybe the records still exist.

In genealogy, as in war, never surrender, never retreat.
Good luck in your search.
