Len, thank you so much; I did, indeed, order the records search; will notify them of the spelling error too. I will check both links you provided and appreciate you giving me a start. Just so you know, I grew up in Knoxville and have spent most of my adult life researching g-g-g-grandfather John Williams, who rescued Jackson in 1814 then they feuded to the grave. I own his house in Knox built in 1826; am trying to get it rehabbed now. I am retired in Nashville, and have never given Gustavus the attention I should have. I'm hoping to find some photos of those units and perhaps put a face to a name that's never had one; he was our original German immigrant. Thank you again, and stay in touch. Col. John Williams was in the courts at Jonesboro before the war, and I've never done that justice either. Let me know if I can look up anything for you in Nashville.
