Re: Alexander Wilson, Greenville, TN

Dear Sir,

If it's the same Alexander B. Wilson, he was my great-grandfather. He serviced in the Union army during the Civil War. After the war, he became a lawyer and then on to a federal judge. He was born and lived in Greenville, TN all his life. He was married twice. First wife (Susan Cartledge Wilson) and then (Sally Cartledge Wilson), Susan died and he married her sister. My grandfather (James Cartledge Wilson) was his first born son by Susan. He had two children by Susan (James and Louisa) and three more by Sally. My father was named Alexander B. Wilson after his grandfather. Unfortunately, I don't have any service records or info about his service during the CW. The only story I know about him during this time is when he received a letter from Mrs. Johnson (President Johnson's wife) thanking him for helping her recover stolen items from her house that was raided by the Union soldiers after the war. I have a photo-copy of this letter. My cousins are genealogy hobbyists and my great-Aunt was a genealogist at the DAR in Washington, DC.

If you have more information, I would welcome your reply I hope this helped a little.

Regards,
Tina Wilson
