Re: Richland Station, May 23, 1863

I suspect the Richland Station in question was located somewhere between Sweetwater and Knoxville. See the two pieces below. It may have been a former Stage line station. It does not appear to be a RR station.

The L&N railroad opened a depot in tha area
Depot called Richland Station
Another Richland in East Tennessee caused the railroad to change the name to Portland
Name changed to Portland in 1888
City incorporated in 1905

Maryville Times, (Blount Co. TN) July 23, 1885:

“Southern News Gleanings---Haywood Turner, colored, about twenty-one years of age, murdered Laura Turner, a colored girl, aged nine, the other evening at Richland Station, Tenn., by beating her brains with rocks and sticks. The Negro confessed the murder, and says he had no cause for so doing.”
