Re: 12th S.C. Infantry Regiment CSA

Hi, That's him! Eli B. Lockley. The Wilkinson Cty,Ga. News & the Macon Daily Telegraph dated 10/1/1862 list him in Co.B,12th S.C. Inf. He was separated from his unit during the second battle of manassas and fell in with the 14th Ga. Inf. and was killed later that day on august 29th. The 2 above named newspapers wrote an obituary on him. He originally enlisted under the pseudo-name of E.B.Lochlan for some unknown reason,(maybe a misspelling of his surname by a company clerk). I am very glad they finally got his name straight after possibly going through his personal effects. This probably explains why grand-uncle Eli disappeared from the family records after 1862. Thank you for your help. Charles Lockley.
