Jim Clary's comprehensive history of the 15th SCI confirms the above with some additional information.

His full name was Henry Luther Amick, born in 1836. Enlisted as a private 8/25/1861 in Dutch Fork, Lexington Dist. He was sick in December 1861 and started being listed as a sergeant that year. He appears on a roll of POWs taken at South Mountain 9/14/62, exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA, 10/2/72. Present for duty 11/62 - 6/63, and on that last roll he is listed as 2nd sergeant. KIA Gettysburg 7/2/63. Husband of Mary Epting, son of Daniel Amick. Sources are listed as the CSRs, Dennis Todd's personal collection of records, and Randolph Kirkland's SC POWs list.
