Re: J. T. Hiers

Ken
... I show a J.T.Heirs, that was in the 11th SC Infantry Co.K. There is also listed a "J.B.Hiers", and a "Jacob Heirs". High probability these are all the same person.

The 11th SC Inf served in Hagoods Brigade. They remained mostly in SC till May 1864 when they came up to Virginia, participated in the Bermuda Hundred Campaign, then on into Petersburg, which they had a rough time there especially at Battle of Weldon RR in Aug 1864... remained around Petersburg till Dec 1864, when they were sent to NC.

In Hagoods Memoirs, which also has rosters, this person is listed there as Jacob Hiers, along with five other "Heirs" listed in Co.K.

Hope this helps, or at least give you a launching point

Frederick
