One of the many mysteries about this fella is not having his precise date of birth. Even his naval record such as it is has only the year 1818. His death certificate has "Not Known" for names of his parents. I had someone check the pay website heritage.com and they came up with nothing I don't already have. He first turns up at New Haven, NY, as a member of the Congregationalist Church in 1834. Married the former Charlotte Cheever of New Haven who is also listed as a church member
