Yes, I did find him in the 1850 and 1880 census, but not in the census of 1840, 1860, and 1870. Thanks to your tip, I was able to locate him at Oregon City, Oregon Territory, during part of 1853 and 1854, from an ad he placed in the newspaper as a general commissary merchant.
