There are surviving documents for this regiment that were prepared in March 1865, that list each engagement of the regiment to that date, and the status of each man during those engagements; a rare detailed look telling us whether or not a man was present or absent for a particular engagement. This information was subsequently transcribed onto individual cards and can be found in each man's CMSR.

For John Q. Knox: listed as absent sick for Gettysburg, Falling Waters, and Bristoe; present for Wilderness and Spotsylvania; absent captured for all engagements after that date.

For William P. Massey: listed as present for Gettysburg, July 1 & 2, captured at Gettysburg July 3; absent captured for all engagements after that date.

For Anderson Massey: listed as absent for the three days of Gettysburg, with no notation being made for the engagements after that.
