Re: Battle of Vincent's Crossroads

In reply to Sam's question as to where Vincent's Crossroads is located.
Let me be clear here, I am no expert in this field of endeavor.
If you want an expert contact Glenda Todd and tell her I sent you.
She has written many books about the 1st. Alabama and or go to the
1st Alabama Web site.
After reading Gen. Ferguson's report of the Battle and his Book Memories of Gen. Ferguson
written after the war and reading Sgt. Major Frances Dunn's journal entries and checking out what others say is the location of the Battle site
I like the others have come to the conclusion that the battle started near what is now Red Bay, Alabama and proceeded
across the state line on the road into Mississippi. That is as close to the site as I can get.
Sometime the army would draw a map of the battle and I was wondering if anyone
had seen a copy, if it did exist. If you look at a google map there is no present day road that runs North and South as noted in Dunn's Journal.
