I apologize for taking so long to respond but with a teacher wife and school-age kids, I have to stand in line to use the computer at our house. I'm going to try to connect the dots between C.F. and the Ballards buried at Vicksburg. I'm also trying to gather more information about C.F. The only solid non-military records I've found are his marriage record and the census records I mentioned in my original post. I can't find anything from before he moved to Mississippi. I know that after the Civil War, he moved to Texas where he settled and died. Hopefully, the information you all provided will help me fill in the blanks.
