C F Ballard, 10th Regiment, Miss Infantry

Hello, all. I'm looking for information about my great great grandfather, Charles F. Ballard. According to family lore, he lived near Corinth with his wife around 1860 and at some point joined the Confederate army and fought at Shiloh. Family lore also says that he had two brothers who died at Vicksburg. In the NPS database, there is a sergeant "C F Ballard" in Company I (new), 10th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry but I can't tell if this is my great great grandfather. The official records that I've been able to find have him in several different places in Mississippi so I don't know exactly where he would have enrolled. The 1860 census shows a CF Ballard and his wife in DeSoto, Mississippi. He was married in Marion,Mississippi in 1856. And, as I mentioned, family lore says he lived "near Corinth" when he enrolled in the army. If anyone happens to have any information on CF Ballard, I would be very excited to know it. Thanks!
