Thank you, Mr. Wells, for your addition to the sad little tale of 3 MS boys (literally) that had an early end to their military careers. It would seem the "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate" caught up with them that day.

I inadvertenly posted this item on the AL board, thinking I was on this one. Mr. George Martin posted in reply with their service records. Between the two of you, we now have an excellent record for someone. I copy interesting items that I come upon doing my other research and post them to the appropriate boards (usually).

One thing I don't get: Both you and Mr. Martin mentioned the three boys were mustered in the 27th, (and Mr. Martin noted that the 27th was consolidated with the 24th "late in the war") yet here we have the news item saying the boys were in the 24th in late 1861. Any ideas?
