November 20, 1862 remaining absent through February, 1864, admitted Post Hospital, Dalton, Ga. November 28, 1862, Chronic Rheumatismus, attached to Oliver Hospital, La Grange/Dalton, Ga. at Nurse/Laundress, February 1, 1863, listed among Shoemakers, unfit for field service, in hospital at Ringgold, Ga., returned to his command, March 19, 1864, wounded in the battle of July 22, 1864 near Atlanta, Ga., sent to hospital, last recorded absent on the August 31, 1864 muster roll, admitted St. Mary's Hospital, West Point, Miss. January 11, 1865, gunshot wound,

Record of Events, Company I (Covington Rifles, Covington Rangers)

Stationed at Shieldsborough, Mississippi, September 27-October
31, 1861.
Stationed at Camp Clark, Bay of Saint Louis, Mississippi, Octo-
ber 5, 1861.
Stationed at Tupelo, Mississippi, May-June 1862.
Stationed at Knoxville, Tennessee, [July]-October 1862.
Stationed at Shelbyville, Tennessee, November-December 1862.
Stationed at Shelbyville, Tennessee, January-February 1863.

Stationed at camp on Triune Pike, March-April 1863.
The company has been in no action the last two months. The
present encampment is Shelbyville, Tennessee.

March 1.— The company went on picket on Triune Pike, eight
miles from Shelbyville and remained one week.
March 30.— Again went on picket.
April 27.— Again went on picket, where we are at the present
time
Stationed near Chattanooga, Tennessee, September-October 1863.
August 30.— Left Tyner's Station at night and returned to
McFarland's Springs to old camp.
September 8.— We marched to McLemore's Cove, a distance of
eighteen miles.

September 11-13.— Formed line of battle and left there on the
same night and moved to La Fayette, Georgia, getting there on
September 13.
September 14.— Left La Fayette. Marched to Rock Springs
Church. Formed line of battle on the same day.
September 15.— Marched back to La Fayette, distance eight
miles.
September 17.— Left La Fayette and marched during the night in
the direction of Chattanooga.
September 18.— Formed line of battle on east side of Chicka-
mauga.
September 19.— Crossed the creek, the battle now raging.
September 20.— Early on September 20 we moved against the
enemy. Fought them all day.
September 21.— Moved to Chickamauga Creek, five miles from
Chattanooga.

September 23-October 31.— Moved over the ridge to our present
line of battle, where we have since been and are at the present
muster, October 31.
The whole amount of clothing drawn not know, owing to the
account book having been lost in the late battle of Chickamauga.
Stationed near Dalton, Georgia, November-December 1863.
November 23.— Was engaged in a pretty heavy skirmish fight in
front of Chattanooga.
November 25.— Was engaged in battle on Missionary Ridge.
Our lines being broken in the center, it was prudent to fall back,
which we did by falling back to Dalton, Georgia, a distance of

about thirty miles, at which place we are stationed at date of the
present muster.
Stationed at Dalton, Georgia, January-February 1864.
No moved or operations of consequence since last muster.
Stationed near Dalton, Georgia, March-April 1864.
Remained quietly in camp near Dalton, Georgia since last
muster.
Stationed near Jonesborough, Georgia, May-August 1864.

Stationed near Lovejoy's Station, Georgia, IMaykAugust 1864.
July 22, 28.— The company was engaged in battle near Atlanta,
Georgia.
August 31.— Also engaged at Jonesborough, Georgia.
The balance of the time since last muster was engaged in
skirmishing with the enemy almost every day.
