Pvt James Eulin/Youlin, 7 MS Batt'n Infantry

I am trying to locate the final resting place of Private James M. Eulin/Youlin who served in Company F, 7 Mississippi Batt'n Infantry. He enlisted at Quitman, MS on May 12, 1862, was captured near Kenesaw Mountain, Marietta, GA on July 3, 1864. He appears on a Register of Prisoners at the Military Prison, Louisville, KY dated July 13, 1864. From there he was sent to Camp Morton, Indianapolis, IN. He remained there until he transferred for exchange on February 19, 1865. The last information on him is that he died at Piedmont, Mineral County, WV on February 23, 1865 while en route for exchange.

I am at a loss as to where to look for his gravesite. Since he was technically not inside a prison when he died, where would he have been buried? Would he have been buried in the area where he died or would his body have been turned over to the CSA for burial? Any help or suggestions will be sincerely appreciate.
