I have every book ever written on Tupelo..even Claude Gentry,s...remember the "Mississippi Series" that came out years ago ? I can find nothing on Reynolds Battalion.......nothing..have looked in every book on Tenn. regiments,Miss.Texas etc. to no avail...if you or anyone finds out let me know...Col.Polk seemed to "float" around...maybe he got bored being out of the action I do not know but I do know that he had many friends in Forrests band of misfits as he was from Bolivar,Tn....Hardeman County,TN. his brother-in-law,my great, great uncle, was Capt. Robert H. Wood, rode with the "Hatchie Hunters" Newsom & J.J. Neely,s bunch........these men & others from the 7th & so on basiclly knew or knew of each other. Col Polk had lost a leg at Shiloh,he could have gone home to his loving wife & children at any time but he stayed........and many others did also. I will be glad to share some of these letters.
