Re: Brices X Roads - look up needed

The only man in Confederate service named Charles Hattox or Haddox came from Kentucky and served in Duke's 2nd Kentucky Cavalry.

There are other ways to pursue this. Let's try to identify Charley or Charles Hattox/Haddox. That's a rather unusual family name in Mississippi.

The 1850 and 1860 census records do not list anyone named Hattox or Haddox in Calhoun County. However, a man named James Hattox has a family in neighboring Pontotoc County. In 1860 his household includes a boy named Charles W. Hattox, age six. He's also on the 1870 census, age sixteen, still living in Rocky Ford, Pontotoc County.

The Calhoun County history is in error about Charley Haddox. He didn't die during the war and wasn't old enough to have been a soldier anyway.
