*He would have been wounded either by artillery fire, or that from a sharpshooter. On June 2, the 7th Mississippi Infantry Battalion of Herbert's brigade, were shifted, along with the 36th Mississippi Infantry, on the Confederate defensive siege, line to the rifle pits just south of the Great Redoubt which was located immediately below the Jackson Road.
