Howdy,

In reference to the A. A. Carter that enlisted as a 3rd Sgt, Co. D, 1st Bn MS Infantry State Troops at Brandon.

I have been trying (to no avail) for sometime to prove, or disprove, that this A. A. Carter was Allen Alexander Carter from Clake Co, MS. He was enumerated in the 1860 census in Clarke Co as A. A. Carter, 50, born in SC. This would make him about 54 in 1864, the correct age (16-55) to have been required to enlist for 30 days in response to the Governor's directive.

Thanks,

Bobby
