At least 12 men of the 37th Alabama Regiment of Volunteer Infantry are most likely buried in the mass grave you mentioned at Iuka. Only one, Pvt. John Durell has a marker, secured by his family a few years ago. Durell's father noted that his son was buried "in a ditch" at Iuka at the time of his death.
