Last Friday I took my wife and 13-year-old daughter to see the Iuka battle site (would be neat to buy/raze the motel and do some archaeo on the hillside!!).
I also took them to see the mass burial of Confederate soldiers (approximately 263 men) in the Shady Grove Cemetery there.
Has anyone compiled/attempted to compile a complete listing of all the men buried in this burial trench?
Am guessing it would take a scouring of all the CSA units that fought at Iuka and systematically noting the names/units of each death and mortal wounding. This would at least get us in the ball park perhaps.....
thanks,
Kenneth Byrd
