I am searching for information concerning Cpl. William Belote, who served in the 29th Mississippi Infantry Regiment. Family trees indicate that he was killed at the Battle of Lookout Mountain Georgia, however upon receiving his military muster roll record I discovered that he was wounded at Chickamauga and sent to a hospital. No further muster roll records were present to indicate that he returned to duty to serve with the unit during the "Battle above the Clouds"! Did he ultimately die of wounds incurred at Chicamauga or did he in fact return to serve the unit? Does anyone have more info?
