Re: 3rd Mississippi Cavalry
Are you refering to my G.G. Grandfather? If so, his name was Capt. E. Richmond, and they have him listed as commanding officer of Company E,(Richmond's Company) 3rd Mississippi Calvery. Then latter on I found an article that had him listed as commanding officer in company C, where he was seriously wounded in the battle for Lickskillet Rd. I have heard that he was captured twice, and released, but on the third time, he was not so lucky, as both Capt. Richmond and his wife were executed. This left there only daughter (who would me my grandmother), and she was sent down to live with her grandmother down on a plantation in southern Mississippi. SO that is why I need to take a little road trip down to Holly Springs, Mississippi and do a little searching around, to see if I can dig up. MapQuest says that it is only about a five hour drive from St. Louis, MO.
