Alan I agree that the actions on the field by Lee contributed to the disastrous results, but for whatever reason, Hood placed him in command with little or no preparation knowing that he had just arrived from his defeat at Harrisburg. No matter who led the charge, the commander in charge was Hood. His decisions ultimately placed the inexperienced Lee in charge of a poorly planned maneuver. Hood was also the commander at Jonesboro, Spring Hill, Franklin and Nashville. "Nuff said!"
