Thank you for your response. I found a William Harborson who enlisted in Co K, Burbridge's Regiment, 4th Cavalry Confederate. This William enlisted from Ozark Co, Mo Oct 8, 1862. He was 28 yrs old which is about the right age for my William Harbison.
William Harbison's brother-in-law Charles Westerman's brother William Bedford Westerman married a Dobbs from Ozark/Douglas Counties. (The Confederates ran all the Union sympathizers out of Ozark County. The Dobbs and Westermans relocated to Dent County. William B and Charles Westerman were cousins of Sam Trollinger. I inherited a letter written Feb 1865 from William B Westerman in Dent Co. to his mother Margaret Trollinger Westerman in Iron Co.)
Also, if you haven't seen this, I found a book " A history of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas being an account of the early settlements, the civil war, the Ku-Klux, and times of peace" written in 1907 by William Monks on archive.org. William Monks' writes about his wife and children being run out of Howell? County.
Most of the families 'on Ottry' (as the locals called it...Ottery Creek, Kaolin Township, Iron Co.) are interrelated, and their histories are as convoluted as this post. In my naivete, I set out to write an article, the purpose of which was to determine where the Harbison's loyalty lay in the Civil War. As you can imagine, this has proved a daunting task.
