10th mo. ancestor

Greetings Missourians. I'm contacting you via the link from the Louisiana Civil War Bulletin Board site, with hopes you can help me. I know from "Men of the Tenth" by Wayne Schnetzer that my great-grandfather Cpl. John Baker enlisted in the 10th on Sept. 1, 1862 at Camp Mitchell and served with the 10th until Nov. 11, 1863, when he was transferred to the Pioneer Corps. So he would have fought at Prairie Grove and Helena, but probably not in the Battle of Pleasant Hill in Louisiana. He settled in Louisiana after the war, married a Louisiana woman and fathered my grandmother, Maud Baker Darby. I have visited Cpl. Baker's grave in Morehouse Parish, La. What I'd like to learn from you is if he served in any Missouri State Guard unit(s) before the 10th was created, plus any other info on him that any of you might have. His Virginia ancestors settled in Lewis County, if that helps narrow down which Missouri State Guard unit he may have been attached to. Thanks a lot, Joe Darby of Louisiana.
