I agree with you 100%. The larger battles are usually covered every which way but the small skirmishes, usually with a larger loss of life pound for pound, not much is mentioned. Fortunately, Phelps and Pulaski counties haven't changed so much that you can't still go to these areas where fights took place and see how the movements played out. I have even discovered structures dating from the War still standing deep in the Ozark hills. I have had old timers tell me stories of things they found in these areas which helped explain some of these skirmishes. One guy sold my father a "chicken coop scrapper" which he found near the Wire road running from Rolla to Springfield (it was a bayonet for a foreign-made musket, Belgium or Austrian).
