One thing these regional Roundtables do very well is local history. The members know the land and know the people. I've often dipped into the resources of local Roundtables and historical societies for material for my books. They find things the more general historians and sources tend to skip.
I especially like reading about local skirmishes. While they may not have meant much in the bigger picture, they certainly meant a lot to those involved. As someone once said, "The biggest battle is the one where you're getting shot at!"
